A Punong Barangay (Village Chief) survives shooting incident after having sustained a gunshot wound from 2 suspects in the morning of March 23, 2025 in Barangay Sinidman Occidental, Calbayog City.
The victim is identified as Hon. Romeo P. Olojan, Sr., 50 years of age and incumbent Punong Barangay of Sinidman Occidental, Oquendo District, Calbayog City.
Sources say that the victim was immediately brought to one of the hospitals in the city where he is now stable after medical intervention.
Based on initial information, the suspects are residents of the same barangay. One of them is identified as Rene C. Malinog while his companion is still subject to verification based on descriptions provided to authorities.
Personal grudge is seen as the root of the incident.
Meanwhile, extensive investigation is on-going while hot pursuit operation is being conducted for the possible capture of the suspects.
Barangay Sinidman is one of the 157 barangays (villages) of Calbayog City with a population of 775 based on 2020 census.(CJ/JMM)
