CALBAYOG CITY – The anti-illegal drugs team of the city’s police force sacked three suspects in two separate but successive drug bust operations at midday of April 11, 2016.
During a buy-bust operations at around 12:50 high noon in an area fronting a motorbicylce-and-appliance store in Barangay Central along Sen. Pres. Jose Avelino Avenue, 32-year-old Marianito Eman, a resident of San Policarpo, Calbayog City was caught in possession of two (2) pieces one-hundred-peso marked bills (with serial numbers 2D476951 and XC140944) reportedly used by the poseur buyer in the acquisition of one small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu from the former. Confiscated from the suspect during the search, aside from the marked money, were several other heat-sealed plastic sachets of varied sizes reportedly said to also contain white crystalline substance of various quantities and drug paraphernalia.

In another buy-bust operations conducted around twenty minutes later than the previous, the police apprehended Marlon Canete Aquino, 40 years old at his residence at Purok 1, Barangay Payahan who was found in possession of a marked five-hundred-peso-bill bearing serial number HF923981 allegedly used by the poseur-buyer in acquiring from the suspect one piece heat-sealed plastic sachet suspected to contain the prohibited substance. Seized from the suspect were several other heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the white crystalline substance, various drug paraphernalia, one (1) unit Colt MK IV.45 Pistol with serial no. 849162, one (1) unit .22 Revolver and several ammunitions of both firearms.
Another suspect, Norvel Lacatangco, a 44-year old resident of Barangay Cagmanipis Norte, of the city’s Tinambacan District, who was in the house of suspect Marlon Aquino in Barangay Payahan during the operations, and was allegedly caught in the act of using the prohibited substance was also apprehended for possession of the prohibited substance and drug paraphernalia.
Records of the police contain that suspect Eman has been in the drug watch list for quite sometime already while suspect Marlon Aquino is out-on-bail for two charges of Violations of RA 9165 committed within the last five years.
The three suspects who are all married and jobless are currently under the custody of the police and confined in the lock-up cell as of press time while corresponding charges against them are being prepared.
