CALBAYOG CITY- Calbayognons are in for thrilling one-stop shopping experience this month when the newly completed Super Metro-Calbayog opens for business.
The opening of the superstore that combines the blueprint of a supermarket and a department store, tentatively set on February 12, 2015, was announced by Jocelyn B. Paginado, corporate affairs project manager of the Metro Retail Stores, Inc.
Paginado said that the Metro will provide customers with a wide selection of food and general merchandise under one roof with "super finds, super prices, and super shopping" in just one trip.
Super Metro which started as a simple two-storey homegrown retail business establishment in Cebu is now at the fore in the retail business in the Philippines.
Like its namesake in Canada, the Metro is conscious of its social responsibility in communities where it operates. It puts into operation a program that is expected to help uplift the standard of living of the beneficiaries that covers providing basic medical assistance and medicines, and setting up "soup kitchens" - a place where food is offered to the hungry for free especially when natural disasters happen.
The superstore has an employment program too wherein successful trainees in the skills training it carries out are reportedly employed as part-timers in Metro stores.
