A victim of an early morning shooting incident was pronounced dead on arrival at Calbayog District Hospital.
The victim was identified as Roque Rivera, 45 years old and a resident of Barangay East Awang. He was brought to Calbayog District Hospital by responding police officers.
“He was fetching water when the suspects aboard a motorcycle arrived and was shot at several time by the backrider who alighted from the vehicle,” initial reports said.
The incident happened at Rama St., Barangay East Awang Calbayog City early morning of August 19, 2024.
Joggers and walkers nearby said several gun shots were heard before a commotion of a group of people attempting to assist the victim was seen.
Fourteen (14) spent cartridges and 1 deformed slug of a 5.56 gun were collected by SOCO at the crime scene.
The incident is still under investigation while hot pursuit operation is being conducted by Calbayog PNP. (CJ/JMM)
