PBBM PRESIDED THE INAUGURATION OF 11.607KM-ROAD IN NORTHERN SAMAR
President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) presided over the inauguration of the 11.607-kilometer road under the Samar Pacific Coastal Road (SPCR) Project in Palapag, Northern Samar in July 14, 2023.

This road project, says the President, is one of the final parts of the SPCR Project and is only one of the 21 projects that the Korean Government is assisting the Philippine Government.

As implemented by DPWH Unified Project Management Office, the SPCR Project is funded by the government of Korea (GoK) under Korea Export-Import Bank Economic Development Cooperation Fund (KEDCF) Loan Agreement Under PHL-14 and the Government of the Philippines (GoP).

At a funding of Php1.03B, its road length runs from the Simora Junction extending to the remote areas in the Municipality of Laoang up to Barangay Mabaras in the Municipality of Palapag.

The project covers the Construction of the 11.607 two-lane Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP Road); Simora Bridge at a length of 161.00 linear meters; 31-linear-meter Jangtud Bridge 1; and the 69-linear-meterJangtud Bridge 2.
The road project is the “final link” in the circumferential road in Samar Island which will provide easier and faster movement and delivery of products and services. The road will also hasten development and maintenance of peace and order in the Island.

In his speech, the President also extended his gratitude to the Government of Korean and expressed hope for more projects for the Filipinos.

“It has been an honor to build this partnership with you. . . I look forward to more collaborations and more flagship projects for the greater good of the Filipino people,” the President said.(CJ/JMM)
