P79.8 MILLION SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECTS SET FOR CONSTRUCTION BY SCHOOL BREAK IN EASTERN SAMAR
Construction of sixteen (16) school building projects in Eastern Samar, for a total budget amount of P79.8 million pesos is set to start by summer break of SY 2023-2024 with Notices of Awards already issued to contractors by the implementing office, DPWH-Eastern Samar District Engineering Office in May 2024.

Funded under the DepEd Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) for FY 2024, the 16 school buildings are identical one-storey (two-classroom) school buildings to be implemented in one (1) city and eleven (11) municipalities in the province of Eastern Samar.

Recipient schools of these school buildings are Eastern Samar Comprehensive National High School in Borongan City; Bulawan Elementary School in Maslog; Guiuan East Central Elementary School, Tubabao National High School, and National High School in Guiuan; Naparaan Elementary School and Tagbacan Elementary School in Salcedo; San Isidro Elementary School and Hilabaan National High School in Dolores; San Jose Elementary School in Mercedes; Tinago Elementary School in Quinapondan; Can-avid National High School in Can-avid; Malinao Elementary School in Taft; Giporlos Central School in Giporlos; Llorente National High School- Barobo Extension in Llorente; and Maydolong Central Elementary School in Maydolong.

District Engineer Domcelio Natividad of DPWH-ESDEO emphasized the need for contractors to expedite construction efforts while the students are on summer vacation so as to avoid disruption when classes again opens for SY 2024-2025.

"We urge contractors to take full advantage of the vacation period to ensure timely completion of these projects," said DE Natividad.

In FY 2023, DPWH ESDEO has implemented 21 school building projects for an appropriation of P152.898 million under DepEd BEFF.

“Twenty (20) school buildings has already been completed and duly turned over to the recipient schools with only one (1) remaining for completion. The one located in San Isidro Primary School in Lawaan, Eastern Samar is nearing completion with a 95.07 accomplishment,” DE Natividad said.

Fully committed to the speedy completion of these projects, the District Engineer assured for the periodical monitoring on the progress of these school building construction.

"We are dedicated to ensuring that these school buildings are constructed efficiently and in accordance with DPWH standards specifications. Also, this initiative underscores the commitment of the DPWH to improve educational infrastructure, providing better learning environment for students in the province," the District Engineer emphasized.
These school building projects are convergence projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways Eastern Samar in partnership with the Department of Education.(CJ/jge/JMM)
