A murder suspect was killed in an encounter with police operatives tasked to serve the warrant for his arrest.
An alleged member of Managaysay criminal group, identified as 50-year-old DANILO ELBANO, SR., alias “Danny” was KILLED in a police operation to serve a Warrant of Arrest that turned to a shootout on August 11, 2024 in Purok 2, Barangay Victory, Calbayog City.
The Warrant of Arrest is for the Murder incident that happened in November 23, 2016 with Elbano as suspect.
Reports say that Elbano attempted to evade arrest by engaging an armed encounter with the police group who responded in an effort to secure the situation.
Elbano sustained fatal injuries as a result of the confrontation. Efforts to provide immediate medical attention proved futile when he was declared dead-on-arrival at the Calbayog City District Hospital.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and Calbayog City Satellite Forensic Unit (CCFU) found a .45 caliber pistol loaded with four (4) live ammunitions, and four (4) cartridge cases. Cash and personal items were also found in the possession of Elbano.
The Samar Provincial Intelligence Team - Regional Intelligence Unit (PIT Samar - RIU 8); PNP Intelligence Group - Internal and Special Operations Division ((IG-ISOD); 123SAC, 12sab, Special Action Force and the Regional Intelligence Division (RID ???? Tracker Team joined forces for the operation.
“The collaboration of various police units highlights the strong dedication to uphold the law and protection of the community,” PNP Regional Director Reynaldo H. Pawid said as quoted in a report.
“By working together to carry out Court orders and arrest individuals with outstanding warrants,, we demonstrate our commitment to upholding justice and safeguarding public safety. This ongoing efforts is crucial in reinforcing the rule of law and fostering a secure environment fo all,” Pawid emphasized. (CJ/JMM)
