Calbayog City – Iskolar Calbayog Chorus is named one of the three finalists to the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) to be held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Main Theater on November 19, 2015.
Iskolar Calbayog Chorus composed of 24 arts and academic scholars – 12 males and 12 females – under the tutelage of Choir Master and City Arts and Culture Officer Jonas Lim was chosen to be one of the twelve semi-finalists after the first qualifying rounds in August, 2015 when they performed their version of the songs “Anak” and “Rosas Pandan.”
The group’s rendition of the songs “Waray-waray,” “Paraiso” and “Bahay” as arranged by musicians Uldarico Gacutno, Jay-r Altoveros and Robert Delgado respectively, during the semi-final competition held at the Marcelo Fernan Press Center, Cebu City on September 19, 2015 earned excellent reviews from the judges of the NAMCYA’s “Taghoy ng Kalikasan, Sagot ay Musikahan” (Nurture Nature with Music) to pave levelling-up to the finals.
