A stash of high-powered firearms was found buried underground along the boundaries of two villages (Barangays San Jose and Villahermosa), Calbayog City early morning of April 15, 2025.
The location of the firearms was pinpointed by an informant whose identity is kept confidential for security reasons.
“The excavation and retrieval operations was done at 5:39 AM following information relayed by the source at around 5:00 PM of April 14, 2025 jointly by the Samar Police Provincial Command (as the lead force), Calbayog City Police, and the Revitalized Pulis Sa Barangay (RPSB) in Villahermosa,” the police said in its report.

With barangay officials as witnesses, a blue straw sack was unearthed. The inventory was completed on site and the items found inside the sack were marked as follows:
1.One (1) unit 9mm KG9 marked COLT AR15 with Serial No. 7160064, with magazine;
2.One (1) unit 9mm KG9 without markings, with magazine;
3.One (1) unit COLT Cal. .45 SN: 539304, loaded with 5 live ammunition;
4.One (1) unit COLT Cal. .45 SN: 593047, loaded with 4 live ammunition;
5.One (1) unit COLT Cal. .45 SN: 178352, loaded with 5 live ammunition;
6.One (1) unit COLT Cal. .45 without SN, loaded with 5 live ammunition;
7.One (1) unit COLT Cal. .45 without markings or SN, loaded with 4 live ammunition; and
8.Four (4) pieces of fired cartridge cases of caliber 9mm.
The firearms in this report, placed under the custody of Calbayog Police Station, are subject to forensic examinations to be performed by the Forensic Unit of the Regional Police Command 8 in Palo, Leyte.(CJ/JMM)
