CALBAYOG CITY – A one-day conference in waging war against fake news and misinformation will be conducted by Fact Check Philippines at the I’s Plant Hotel and Restaurant on June 30, 2018. The conference is aimed to equip netizens on fact checking in the era of alternative facts and post truth.
The conference is a one-day activity with lectures on the cyber warfare against misinformation and disinformation, citizen fact checking, and netizens’ role in social transformation. The participants will engage into a workshop on how to combat the threats to truthful information during the afternoon session of the conference.
Ambassadors for Truth will be chosen to join the pool of Fact Check Ambassadors for Calbayog City and build their own Fact Check armies in each community. The participants are expected to create strategies on how they will be able to combat misinformation in their localities.
Main speaker during the conference is the blogger behind Pinoy Ako Blog, Jover Laurio, a staunch of a critic who came out to expose her true identity in October 2017 after being threatened by supporters of the present administration.
Fact Check Philippines is in partnership with “Kaya Natin Movement for Ethical Leadership and Good Governance” and “ENTABLADO,” a Samar-based group of cultural artists.(CJ)
