‘Code Blue’ Alert has been raised in Samar Province as dengue cases continue to rise.
Samar Provincial Health Officer Madeleine H. Ampatin issued public health advisory effective as of its issuance on “August 28, 2024 until incident is closed and code is lifted, to ensure a comprehensive and well-organized health emergency response.”
The continued increases in the number of cases thru Morbidity Week 34 reached to 2,493 as of August 24, 2024. The count is 346% higher that the 501 cases listed for the same period of last year.
Coordination between dispatch teams, experts, and other emergency response agencies and plan support to affected areas up to the barangay level is directed to be initiated by the provincial and all district hospitals, city and municipal health offices.
“This is a critical public health concern that needs immediate and coordinated response where the RHU’s need to coordinate with barangay the barangay councils and other stakeholders,” Provincial Health authorities said.
Control measures thru the implementation of 4S Strategies specifically the conduct of “Search and Destroy” in all Barangays, establish and maintain dengue fast lanes, respond appropriately and provide medical assistance shall be maintained in anticipation of the influx of patients.
To ensure close guidance and guarded operations, health facilities are directed to activate respective DRRM-H Operations Center and establish good communication and coordination with all concerned groups of stakeholders by utilizing respective OpCen Hotlines.(CJ/JMM)
