BPSF HOLDS EVENT FOR SAMAR BENEFICIARIES IN CALBAYOG CITY

Samar provincial government, Congressmen of the first and second districts of the province as well as the local government of Calbayog collaborate in hosting the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF-Samar) for the beneficiaries of the province.

Calbayog City Mayor Raymund Uy, in a press conference, informed that “LGU-Calbayog has allocated
the amount of Php5 M from the local treasury as counterpart for the conduct of BPSF-Samar in Calbayog City.”

It was, further emphasized by the City Mayor that Samar Representatives of the 2 Congressional Districts, Hon. Stephen James Tan and Hon. Reynolds Michael Tan, and the Samar Provincial Government, headed by Governor Sharee Ann Tan, also placed respective counterparts for the activity.

BPSF-Samar is a festival of services that will be conducted on November 22-23, 2024 at the athletic field of Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU). Sixty-one House Members confirmed attendance to this event.

Over 60,000 beneficiaries enlisted to avail any one or more of the 255 services offered by 62 participating national government agencies. BPSF-Samar covers a total of Php716 M worth of programs and services for its recipients, from which Php400 M is drawn for cash assistance.

In the next few days, continuous payouts across Samar province will be made to about 20,000 Samar beneficiaries by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). An estimated amount of Php300 M will be disbursed.

During the same press conference, Atty. Mark Stephen Reyes, Head of the BPSF National Secretariat, informed that the beneficiaries to the cash assistance are “pre-identified” and “pre-qualified.”

Likewise, Cong. Tan, in an interview after the press conference, said that the conduct of the BPSF-Samar is primarily aimed to uplift the economic conditions of the less-privileged Samarnons particularly in the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

“We want to see to it that nobody is left out as we work for development and progress, particularly in uplifting the economic condition of every household,” Cong. Stephen James Tan said.

BPSF-Samar in Calbayog City is the fourth serbisyo caravan in Eastern Visayas (Region 8) and the 25th event under the BPSF program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez. The program aims to deliver essential government services directly to communities across 82 provinces nationwide.(CJ/JMM)
