CALBAYOG CITY – After the test start of the wifi services was proven effective from its Point of Presence (POP) on September 18, 2016, at the field office of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in the city, 32 free Wi-Fi internet access sites under the “Juan Konek” program in Calbayog are identified.
Engr. Eleazar Badrina, Field Operations Officer for Visayas Cluster 2 informed that free Wi-Fi services of the DICT’s Juan Konek program aims to deliver the freedom through the World Wide Web to most of the Filipinos, as one of the prime paces in coping with the responsibility of the government to provide its citizenry access to information, especially those who need it the most.
Badrina further informed that there are only two points of presence (POPs) for the free Wi-Fi Internet Access in public places in Eastern Visayas – Calbayog City and the municipality of Palo in Leyte.
