CALBAYOG CITY – A 20-year-old male fell bleeding and dead on the ground after two shots were heard near midnight of November 5, 2023 in Puok 5, of the city’s Barangay West Awang.
The victim was immediately identified as Russel Anthony Bonifacio. He was known being frequently seen and have established quite a number of friends in the area of incident.
The police reports tell that the victim was 20 years old, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Rawis, a village south of and next to where the victim was shot.
A recount of the incident by those in the area, as confirmed in the police report, says that a streetlight was turned off which resulted to dim the area before 2 gunshots were heard.
The victim was heard shouting “Aduy” (Ouch!) before he was seen sprinting a few steps and fell to the ground bleeding but already lifeless. He sustained 2 bullet wounds in his back.
Based on investigation of the crime scene and on-site examination on the victim conducted by SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operations) Team, the following items were found with the victim: (a) Php5,275.00 in cash; (b) 1 wrist watch; (c) 1 vape; as well as (d) 1 heat-sealed transparent sachet; and (e) a lump of item inside a heat-sealed transparent sachets suspected (items d & e) to contain prohibited substance locally known as “shabu.”
While investigation as to the motive behind the incident is in progress, suspected drug items have been submitted for laboratory examinations. (CJ/JMM)
